EQUIPMENT THAT ENCOURAGES HEALTHY POSTURE
- The correct chair supports your entire spine from the
shoulders down.
- When you sit, your hips should be at a 90-degree angle, with
your knees a little higher than your hips. Use a slanted footstool.
- A keyboard that keeps your wrists in the handshake position-not
rotated 90 degrees-takes strain off your wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Use a large trackball with an open palm to take strain
off your shoulders as no large forward-and-backward motions are
required.
- Many hours in one position leads to injury. An adjustable
work surface allows a varied work position throughout the
day. Some examples are at The
Stand-Up Desk Company.
- Your head should be facing forward, not to one side or the
other. A copy stand within your line of sight to your monitor
reduces strain on your neck. Some examples are at VuRyte.
